The office of the Gender Commissioner in partnership with Hope for All Foundation and Anglogold Ashanti, Iduapriem Mines embarked on a breast and cervical cancer screening exercise on the 24th of October 2019.
The exercise which was a platform for members of the association to know their status saw members from both the undergraduate community and people living within the university’s environs attending.
Miss Emefa Priscilla Amenyah Kove the Gender commissioner speaking on the exercise commended the school and partners for the great work done. She added that the move was part of efforts to corroborate the work of the national gender commission to ensure that breast cancer awareness was on ascendency at the local level. She further concluded that the screening exercise was also a way to reduce the stigma towards breast cancer by way of education.
In the end, 107 were screened for breast cancer and 23 of cervical cancer.
